Kalanchoe Copper Spoon is a slow growing succulent with large, oval shaped leaves which have a soft, velvety texture. It gets its name from the coppery/bronze colour of its velvety leaves, which resemble large spoons. Kalanchoe Copper Spoon makes an excellent feature plant due to its distinctive appearance.
CARE AND GROWTH:
Like most succulents, Kalanchoe Copper Spoon prefers a position in full or partial sun. The more sun it receives, the more vibrant the foliage colours will be. Plant in a well-draining soil and allow it to dry out completely in between waterings. A cactus or succulent mix would be ideal, but you can also add some perlite to help improve drainage. Overwatering can lead to root rot so water around once or twice a week in the warmer months and reduce this to once or twice a month during winter.
Prune occasionally to maintain a full, compact shape and fertilise in Spring with a slow-release fertiliser.
PLANTING IDEAS:
Feature/Accent planting: Larger growing succulents like the Kalanchoe Copper Spoon look great when mass planted or a standalone feature plant. The eye-catching foliage is a great focal point in any space.
Succulent Garden: A couple of reasons why succulents are so popular is because they are very low maintenance and come in a huge range of vibrant shapes and colours. Kalanchoe Copper Spoons work great in a succulent garden and mixes well with many varieties.
Sedum, or stonecrop, succulents work great with Kalanchoe. Their colourful foliage and flower clusters really enhance the space. Echeverias and Sempervivum have wonderful shapes and colours and Agaves are an architectural delight! Or course, you can’t go past adding other Kalanchoe as well!
