Crassula Ovata Gollum is a unique succulent that is part of the Crassula Ovata family of Jade plants. It gets its name from JRR Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ character, Gollum, due to its unusual appearance. Its distinctive leaves are tubular, cylindrical and elongated, with a reddish tinge at the ends. They have a slight indentation at the end, resembling fingers. This Jade plant also has other fun name such as ‘Shrek’s Ears’ and ‘ET’s Fingers’. Crassula Ovata Gollum is a slow-growing succulent that can be used both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of spaces.
CARE AND GROWTH:
Like all succulents, Crassula Ovata Gollum thrives in bright light and on little water. The frequency of watering depends on several factors, including pot size and environmental conditions but as a general rule, every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (Spring and Summer) or when the soil has completely dried out is ideal. During the dormant season, reduce watering to once a month or even less. A good guide is to stick you finger into the top few inches of soil and only water when it feels completely dry. If the leaves become wrinkled, this is a sign that your Crassula Ovata Gollum needs watering.
Plant in a well-draining soil to ensure your succulent does not develop rot root. A cactus or succulent mix would be ideal
