Ophiopogon planiscapus, commonly known as Black Mondo Grass, Ebony Knight or Nigrescens, is a small ground cover evergreen perennial. It is a hardy plant with foliage that change from green to dark purple (black) and can grow to 8 inches and 1/4 inch wide. This plant is commonly used in rockeries or raised beds as an ornamental plant. It is a striking alternative to the regular mondo grass requiring full sun to part shade.
