Alpinia zerumbet ‘variegata’, or Variegated Shell Ginger has lovely long leaves that are striped with green and yellow variegations giving them the look of a birds feather. They are not quite as aggressive as the non-variegated species. The Alpinia looks fantastic in container pots or grown in the garden as a feature plant. They are frost tender and prefer the warmer weather.
